The Button of Life

Recently I saw the movie Benjamin Button which stars Brad Pitt. I am in no way endorsing the movie but thought it had a very interesting premise. It was about a baby born into old age and abandoned by his father. When Benjamin Button was 10 years old he looked 80 years old and had the mind of a 10 year old in an old man’s body. In one scene he is in a wheel chair looking at the children playing down the street with keen interest of a child. He had a desire to play with the kids but looked more like my grandfather. At 17 he looked like he was in his seventies and met an Irish tug boat captain who took him to a bar and introduced him to woman. The tug boat captain could not understand why he never been with a woman and Benjamin being 17 went along for the ride.
Before this he meets a young girl who is his same age and plays with her and through the years of their life he falls in love with her. During this time he moves in with her and she becomes pregnant. When she turns 44 they reach the same age his wife aging each day and Benjamin is getting younger every day. But they meet in middle of their lives at the same age one aging 40 years and the other getting 40 years younger. This really intrigued my mind because many times we view life in regards to age and experience. We may have a goal or an idea that we never go after because of our age or because of the timing of the matter at hand. I believe there are things that will hinder you from your goals regardless but you can never swim unless you get wet and jump in the water.
Benjamin realized he was getting younger every day. He had a child with his wife and realized he could not raise his child because one day he will be a teen, an adolescent and then a baby. Benjamin faced problems in age but it was getting younger. For me and you it may be aging but Benjamin said I am going to do everything I can in my life to live, to enjoy life and to reach his potential. Benjamin knew when his own time clock was going to be up because every year he was getting younger and eventually he would become that baby. For us it’s the opposite we are aging daily, but in that are we going after our desires? Are we really living or do we just exist in time?
Eventually Benjamin became that baby and the main point I am trying to make is we all face situations where we have to adjust in life. For Benjamin’s problems were getting younger. In an age where there is a billion dollar business for aging and looking younger are you going after your dreams? What is holding you back from doing that dream of yours?
For Benjamin it was the fear of getting younger. What are your fears? I want to encourage you to overcome these fears and start living your life by reaching your potential, conquering your dreams and living your life to the fullest. First you have to look beyond your fears and dream big and trust that God will get you to fulfill that promise, that dream!

Destinations that Matter

For one thing, I never like blogs till of recent. I always wanted to power bomb bloggers but I guess it’s my turned to be power bombed. So here is my try at a blog.

Blogs, Blogs, Blogs and more blogs! why do we need another blog? Well we do not need another blog and this is more like Frank Barone from Every Body Loves Raymond, when He gets published in readers digest and now Frank thinks he is a writer. All the while all he wanted to do was share thoughts from his perspective of life. I guess I am sharing how I see things and give my perspective on it whether right or wrong. First I want to say I am a PC, Windows Vista. You see there really are two kinds of people. There is a Mac person and they are that person that’s a pure genius, there smart in their field of life and excel in all they do. Pc’s take many uploads to get where a Mac person gets too. But there is hope you can be Windows XP and you are better off than a Vista person. For example my wife is a Mac and I am Windows Vista. She picks up everything like a sharp tiger and I am slow like a zebra. I am like those guys in Slap Shot the movie with the thick glasses where I am good at the one thing. Those guys in the movie Slap shot were good at creating havoc on the ice and scoring goals. My wife has the ability to do 100 things great but a PC person takes years of trial and error to achieve what a Mac person could do. There is nothing wrong with being a PC. I don’t drink coffee from star bucks and show up with my laptop while I sit on a star bucks couch and surf the web. That’s boring to me. I connect with the common man and like New York deli coffee in the blue cup with butter bread for a buck. Well that’s a little of my thought process. In this week’s blog I want to write about a topic that is on my heart, Are we enjoying what we are doing in life and are we reaching our potential.

Potential is that hidden gem in you that wants to be shaped but it could remain in the cave of your life if you’re not willing to work hard to achieve the results and become that gem. For many years I was a settler where I would just go to work clock in and clock out and never make a difference in the field I worked in. As well my personal goals would lay doormat like a book on a book shelf that you always want to read but you make excuses never to read the book. Right now there is talent in you that will never arrive to your destination unless you’re willing to work hard and never give up. Ask yourself this, where are you going in life? Every day I jump in the car for a destination. Where is the destination you are trying to go? In life where do you what to end up?

I want to be transparent sometimes I want to have that Dirty Harry one liners and say, Go ahead, Make my day! But I am too talkative and will keep talking and the other gunman would end up shooting me. So we have to understand our limitations and capabilities. I think in a sports mind. If you give me a math problem I am breaking it down in batting averages or field goal percentages. We all are different but we all want to have people like us and we want a pat on the back for encouragement. Here is the key if you want to get to that destination you must drive yourself there. You need personal drive and desire to work hard and remain faithful to the destination you want to go to. So I know I am a PC and Windows Vista at that so sometimes I don’t upload properly so I know I need to work much harder than others. So in this first blog post my encouragement to you is too write out a plan only for you and God. That plan will be the place in life where you’re trying to go. Really take time to think about it then pray and ask God for His guidance and then write out the plans that flow from your heart. You may be a Mac; you may be a Pc but at the end of the day you can get to that place, to that quote on quote destination but first you must learn this key word, faithful. Will you be faithful to get to your destiny, I am rooting for you and praying for you and look forward to hearing from you. Like the great singer, Johnny Cash said, Come along and ride this train.

On the Rebound,
